AACC Training Seminar for Senior Representatives of Arab Chambers

From 18-22 May 2015, the Austro-Arab Chamber of Commerce organized a training seminar for senior representatives of Arab chambers to deepen the relations and promote communication between the chambers. The course was attended by participants from Jordan and Kuwait, in addition to high-level diplomats from the embassies of Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Oman. The program included specialized lectures, tours and field visits to major Austrian companies and institutions.

On the first day, the participants visited the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber where the Head of the Marketing Department, Mr. David Bachmann gave a presentation of the chamber and its administrative structure, services and its network of relationships and contacts on European and global levels.

Mr. Rudolf Lichtmannegger explained the policies of the chamber and its interaction with the public sector in the drafting of economic laws in Austria. He pointed to the unique system of social partnership in Austria, which includes all Austrian economic institutions, trade unions and labor organizations as well as governmental bodies. The most important result of this system is the scarcity of labor strikes in Austria, unlike the rest of the European countries. Ms. Sonja Rogge made a presentation on the International Centre for Arbitration in Austria and its role and tasks. Then, Mr. Rudolf Kottbauer of the Austrian Institute for Economic Promotion (WIFI) spoke about vocational training and the dual educational system in Austria which covers education and labor market requirements. The institute is one of the largest training institutions at European level and reflects the partnership between the private and public sectors to graduate qualified cadres. The school system in Austria allows vocational training graduates to enroll in public schools and qualify for admission to universities.
